Jack Harlow, Tory Lanez via What’s Poppin Remix Video

This Friday, Jack Harlow will drop his upcoming album That’s What They All Say. Jack has had himself a great 2020, dropping the track of the summer, securing his spot on the XXL Freshman Class, a crazy New Balance deal, and more. However, one artist featured on the album has not had such a lucky year. Jack Harlow has been asked to explain himself as to why this artist remains on the project. His response, and the drama that continues around this problematic artist, makes this article and album title that much more fitting.

Of course, the problematic feature on the project is Tory Lanez on the What’s Poppin Remix. The original track was basically the song of the summer, and when Jack Harlow got DaBaby, Tory Lanez and Lil Wayne on the remix, it really solidified Jack’s spot in the hip-hop industry. You have one of the best right now (DaBaby), the greatest from the generation before you (Lil Wayne) and Tory Lanez who at the time was getting on every track possible and showing off his versatile, after becoming an independent artist. Some people do not like remixes because the original was so good. This is not one of those songs. We want the remix, every single time. At first.

The remix dropped just weeks prior to the incident with Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion. Since then, so much has gone down, and the two are at complete odds. Megan was quiet at first, but has since told the world it was Tory Lanez who shot her. Tory came out with a whole project explaining that is not what happened at all. He actually made it seem like she was not actually shot, and that Megan was just upset about their relationship status. Megan did not let this go, as she fired back plenty of times on her debut album Good News. You know what they all say: there are three sides to every story. Your side, my side, and the truth. An investigation is said to be ongoing, but the world is remains confused.

Just when you thought matters were over between the feud, fans are suspicious that Tory Lanez is still subtweeting. A video that Megan posted on her Instagram page recently showing off her latest twerk move has gone viral. Later that day, Tory Lanez posted a tweet saying “All that for the gram, but couldn’t take no d***.” Now, this is as petty as ever, but Tory claims they had a relationship. It may make sense that he sees her acting up living her best life, and use this as a jab to what he knows that the world doesn’t see. But after a nasty breakup, isn’t that what they all say?

So, the feud between Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion continues, and it does not seem to be letting up anytime soon. Instantly after the incident had happened, several artists have removed Tory Lanez from their featured projects where they were able to. Kehlani launched the deluxe for her album, where she had removed Tory Lanez from what was originally her greatest hit on the project. She preached that her loyalty lies with Megan and she did not want to hurt her by leaving Tory on the song and dismissing her feelings from the matter.

With the What’s Poppin Remix being the final track on Jack Harlow’s upcoming album, he had a decision to make. He made the opposite decision as Kehlani, and decided to keep Tory Lanez on his project. On an interview with Power 106 FM, the hosts actually bring up that he kept Tory Lanez and Lil Wayne on the album, after things seem to hit the fan with both of them weeks after the song releases - cue image of Lil Wayne with Donald Trump.

When asked why it was important for Jack Harlow to keep these artists on his project, he responded:

"I don't think I'm God. I don't have no room to judge anybody. I wasn't there when this and that happened, I don't know anything. Who am I to judge? For me it's music, and there's a certain integrity you have to keep as an artist. There's three sides to every story. I don't think it's my place to start judging."

When a song has done your bank account so well, as a new and upcoming artist, I just have to figure that is what they all would say. I do not really condone or hate this decision. I would love to hear what the judge in the case has to say prior to making my final opinions.

The interview does go on to talk about cancel culture, in which Jack Harlow immediately shuts down. He states "people should be able to recover from their mistakes." Which is very true, if you own up to it. Lately it seems like many are laughing off their mistakes or telling people it does not bother them, etc. It will be interesting to see how this interview does for Jack Harlow’s publicity with the new album coming out. Are people upset? Do no they not really care? Will Jack have another hit on the album?

Additional features on the album include Big Sean, Lil Baby, Chris Brown, Static Major, Bryson Tiller and Adam Levine. A few interesting ones in there for sure (Adam Levine). I do really like the Big Sean song which has recently been released. I am not sure anything will hit the success of What’s Poppin, but we will see.
