Paul George released a PG4 ‘Gatorade Pack’ over All Star Weekend, and is now bringing us a ‘Bred’ color way of the silhouette. Much easier to wear if you liked the silhouette but not the colors, though I have to say I like the crazy color ways a bit more. This basic color way with the simple white sole just makes them feel less exciting and interesting to me. Nike does give you some customization options, so you do have the opportunity to play around with the color ways and accent colors, which is pretty cool.
The PG4 is Paul George’s fourth signature shoe with Nike. The PG1 and the PG2 both have straps covering the shoe laces, holding them in the place. I did think it was interesting that he kind of picked that up a few notches where, while the entire upper is covered with an extra layer, zipped up to the tongue. If you unzip, this top material, you can see the regular lacing system below. This could be a style preference to hide you laces, or a technique, rather, to hold them in place.
While one side of the upper is a black rough material, the other side a red mesh material, with large wholes so you can see right underneath. This allows breathability and an added design element, so you can somewhat hide a secret message or symbol under this piece of the shoe. PG is known for being an offense and defense kind of guy, so I’m assuming these shoes are going to be real comfortable and flexible as you move on the court.
I really did not like this shoe at first, it is just all the way too athletic and boring for me to want to wear. However, I did play with the Nike ID customizations, and I like what I came up with. PG, call me if you need some help on the good color ways!
