The Nike Space Hippie collection launches July 3rd in attempts to be better for the environment. I would say the silhouette takes inspiration from the React Element series, though this one uses recycled materials to creating interesting, wearable patterns and materials.

The collection uses polyester from recycled plastic bottles, t-shirts, and yarn scraps on the upper. The outsole is melded with rubber and ZoomX foam scraps. The different materials melded together in the outsole give it the appearance of a speckled texture and crater-like shape. Sustainability and craters? Why not call these babies Space Hippie?

Naming each different shoe simply a number, kind of gives me scientific vibes. But I don’t know, maybe I’m trying to find the deeper of meaning of something that does not exist.

I’m really into this collection. I think 02 would be my go-to wear out of the four, although 03 is also my type, and kind of looks like an Off White collab. It does not look like these will be reselling for much, but they’ll be trending for the rest of the summer, for sure. Making a brand new, dope silhouette is one thing, but keeping the environment in mind when you’re doing so, is something that all brands are going to need to start taking into consideration more regularly.
