It has been just over a month since G Herbo released his fourth studio album, 25. G Herbo has began picking up a lot of recognition and support for his past two albums, starting with PTSD. It appears him becoming more vulnerable and relatable in his music, along with what he has been doing outside of music to give back, has really pushed him over the hurdle securing his spot as a star in the industry. He continues to surprise people with who he is really is, with the brand new music video from single, Cold World.

The album 25 released on July 2nd, and so far has peaked on charts at number 5 Top US Albums, and at 2 for Top US Rap albums. On the album, G Herbo teamed up with Polo G, Lil TJay, 21 Savage, Rowdy Rebel, The Kid Laroi, Gunna and Mad Max. There is actually one other feature on the album, that many likely were not expecting. G Herbo gives music credits to his son Yosohn on of the tracks, who also plays a major role in the new music video for Cold World. The video premiered just sixteen hours ago and has over 300,000 views so far on the Official Music Video on YouTube.

Just by the name of the title, you can likely already tell what G Herbo is talking about in his single, Cold World. G Herbo has opened up about what he has seen in his lifetime, and that he has been diagnosed with PTSD based on the scary things he has witnessed in his life. He has been a great role model for others in these situations, by opening up about PTSD, sharing his experiences, and providing resources for those who would like to seek help. Last year, he launched a program called ‘Swervin’ Through Mental Health,’ in hopes to support kids experiencing similar traumatic events.

In the new song and video, G Herbo explains seeing a murder in front of his own eyes when he was just nine years old, which ultimately would lead him down a dangerous path. However, he would take these traumatic experiences for what they were, and grow from them rather than letting them break him. Throughout the music video, he wears a completely iced out ski mask, a Supreme x Louis Vuitton apron while getting a hair cut, and a leather jacket with patches, throughout several different scenes. The ‘25’ ice sculpture from the album release party has a role in the video as well, an age G Herbo expresses he is blessed to see. On top of that, he has two adorable sons he gets to raise, and appears to be doing a wonderful job at.

As we mentioned earlier, Yoshon, G Herbo’s oldest son, has credits on the track as a featured artist. In the song, Yoshon has a conversation with his father.

"You like this song son-son?"
"Yeah, I like this song"
"You like it? You love daddy?"
"Oh, yeah, yeah, yes"
"What's your name?"
"I am Yosohn"
"You love daddy?"
"Yeah, I love daddy"

Yoshon can be seen in the music video fanning through a stack of money, wearing his bomber jacket and chain, then being picked up by his father as they have the conversation.

G Herbo is not the first to give his infant/child credits on his song. DJ Khaled has done this with his sons, and I can think of way back when Hailie Jade was featured on Eminem’s My Dad’s Gone Crazy. It is always a nice thing to see an artist with such a rough and aggressive path show a bit of vulnerability and how much they truly do care for their families. It is not something you see everyday, but I do feel like it has what really opened up people’s minds to listening to G Herbo.

That is not the end, however. Of course, G Herbo, also recently welcomed a second son into the world, Essex. While debuting the music video giving credits to Yoshon, G Herbo felt it right to share something massive he has done for Essex, as well. In a photo of G Herbo holding Essex on his Instagram Story, he shares a giant ‘Essex’ tattoo across his back, like a last name on a jersey. G Herbo does have Yoshon tattooed across his chest, and now has given the same amount of space on his body to his new born, Essex. It’s a family affair.
