Talk About Mrs. Petty: Music Conspiracy
My once favorite couple. This hurt my heart, but it was easy to take sides. At the end of January, you may recall there was an incident while shopping between Meek Mill, Nicki Minaj, and her husband, Kenneth Petty. TMZ posted the video, it was hard to see, but it was easy to hear. Nicki and Kenneth were screaming profanity at Meek, and saying things like "She's not talking to you no more," and "You can't handle me." Watching this I'm just mortified. Like, how old are we? Clearly, this side of the couple has yet to move on.
Obviously Meek would stand up for himself in this situation, but I'm going to go ahead and say that he did not do anything that would have called for the interaction to escalate in this way. Reports say he asked to have a word outside, and then the Petty's refused, suggesting there were hundreds of people outside.
The fight didn't stop in the store, because Nicki decided to go and rant on Twitter. Again, calling Meek Mill out of his name, and even suggesting that he beat his sister, and kicked Nicki herself. Now, I shouldn't be completely oblivious to domestic violence and women telling their truth. However, do you REALLY think that THE QUEEN, Nicki Minaj, would let someone abuse her in a relationship and let it slide? Save it for four years, and then decide to post about it on Twitter because of an argument in a jewelry store? I'm calling fake news. Nicki would never have let this slide in the first place. I also don't think Meek would do this, he loved her, and his family. He may have went on a complete Tweet rampage about the situation, but it all sounded quite calm and truthful. Mrs. Petty is getting nasty with her Twitter Fingers, if you ask me.
Time for the #MusicConspiracy I brought you all here for. Remember when Nicki retired? She has a family to build, right? Well, how come when Meek Mill is promoting a brand new hit single with Justin Timberlake, Nicki decides to randomly drop a track called "Yikes" on the same day? We knew about Meek and JT releasing Believe for probably a week prior to it dropping. I truly believe that Nicki got wind of this collaboration, and wanted to take away his spot light. She went ahead, recorded or threw together this song, and dropped it on the same day as Meek, to take away his shine. The RapLife playlist on Apple Music for a while had Yikes at #1 and Believe at #2. I believe that this is exactly what she wanted, and why we got this random track for Nicki. Suddenly, Nicki reports she can't take herself away from the game and is working on an album. I'll believe that when I see it. I say she is just being petty taking all the attention she can get from this moment.
I think Believe was a beautiful song. For a rapper like Meek Mill to get together with someone like JT, who has 10 Grammys, 4 Emmys, the list goes on forever, I imagine this was special for Meek. From the song you can just tell that Meek is in a better headspace than his troubled days. The song is actually all about the struggles they've overcome, and that with everything they've been through, nothing can break their spirits. It tells a story, it is motivational, it sounds incredible. Obviously it is not a Meek Mill banger that you hear in the club, but it is important for artists with longevity to be able to make songs like this. I'm a sucker for a Meek Mill (or MMG) love song, but this is a completely different vibe I think is huge for him.
I'm not even kidding you, I hated Yikes. Nicki who quite recently used to pride herself on switching up the flow on a song and killing all of them, kept the same rhyme scheme the entire track. She did not say anything the whole time. Was this a diss track? Was it even a real song? I don't really know. What I can say is, Remy already told you to stop pretending like you carry weapons. It's not cool to talk about how much you do drugs anymore. And also, who gives a damn about how many limes you put in your margarita? I do not mean to sound like a hater, but the single rhyme scheme just had Nicki rhyming anything with everything. Could have put Lil Pump on this track for a better impact on who this will appeal to.
Anyways, Nicki put out this song to take away from Meek's success. Bottomline. Believe > Yikes
